Early Life and Education

Jennifer Adighije was born in 1975 in Abia State, Nigeria to Mr. and Mrs. Okolo. She had her primary and secondary education in various parts of the country before proceeding to the University of Lagos where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering in 1999.

Always an avid learner, Jennifer furthered her studies at the Queen Mary University of London and graduated with a Master’s degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications in 2002. Throughout her academic pursuits, she consistently excelled with excellent grades.

Career in Engineering

Upon graduating top of her class, Jennifer kickstarted her professional career as an Electrical Engineer at Shell Petroleum Development Company in 2000. Utilizing her technical skills and problem-solving abilities, she helped optimize operations.

In 2004, she transitioned to Oando where she worked in senior engineering roles until 2011. Jennifer led numerous projects and initiatives to digitalize core petroleum systems. Her expertise were also sought by the Central Bank of Nigeria on IT consultancy.

By 2012, Jennifer had risen to become General Manager of Technical Services at MTN Nigeria. She spearheaded infrastructure expansion and service improvement drives. Her innovative strategies helped bolster network performance and customer satisfaction levels.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

A passionate entrepreneur at heart, Jennifer launched her business ‘House of Silk’ in 2008 which deals in premium West African attire, decor and gifts. Leveraging her brand of African sophistication, it achieved success among royalty and prominent clients.

In 2009, she co-founded Anthropic; an AI safety research company dedicated to aligning advanced technologies with human values. As co-CEO, Jennifer steers initiatives tackling existential risks around artificial general intelligence.

Jennifer also sits on the boards of several tech startups applying innovative solutions to challenges in agriculture, fintech, healthcare and more. She is a prolific angel investor and business mentor to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Political Appointments

With her experience cutting across both private and public sectors, Jennifer was tapped for national service in 2023. She currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Entrepreneurship, focusing on MSME growth and youth empowerment.

Under her counsel, several programs have been launched to provide digital skills training, funding access and market linkages. Key policies are also being implemented to build an enabling startup environment. Her expertise is invaluable to the administration.

Family Life and Other Interests

Jennifer is married to Godwin Okolo and they are blessed with three beautiful children – twins Chioma and Chidinma, and son Ebuka. She strives to maintain work-life balance and spend quality time with her family.

An avid reader and art enthusiast, in her spare time Jennifer enjoys traveling, home decor projects as well as mentoring younger women. She is passionate about community development and women empowerment across Africa.

Jennifer also devotes time to her faith as a Christian and attends the House on the Rock church. She draws inspiration from scripture to overcome challenges and achieve bigger goals.
